Mr. Hafez is a geophysicist by training. He graduated from Ain Shams University and has
got an MSc from University of Leeds, UK. He has acquired a wide professional and scientific expertise during his 50-year career in different related fields to energy and environment. This experience was earned mainly in the Middle East, USA and Australia with extensive management and negotiating skills with multinationals and international organizations such as the UN and the world bank.
He was behind passing the first environmental law and its executive regulations as well as issuing and orchestrating the first State of the Environment report under this new law in Egypt. He has also issued the first comprehensive action plan for the environment.
He has contributed as an active member in different councils and committees: Supreme Advisory Committee, Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Environmental Research Committee – Academy for Scientific Research and Technology, Center for Environmental Research and Studies, Cairo University, board member New and Renewable Energy Authority,
Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and Center for Restoration of Antiquities and Historical Documents and Museum Collections, Faculty of Antiquities, Cairo University.
